About

Hi - my name is Joseph Merrill and I'm a fintech generalist / operator / investor in SF.

I recently founded a company called Strata - a reviews-based marketplace where doctors shop for financial products, professional services, and clinical tools and prior to founding Strata, I was the Head of Product and Data at Provide - a lender and financial services provider to doctors and private healthcare practices. I joined Provide in 2015 as one of the first employees, designed and built a number of infrastructure and process components, and grew the company through a variety of roles to a 250+ person organization with a $4B+ practice and commercial real estate portfolio (<15bps loss rate) and $1B+/year loan origination rate. 

Following Series A and B financing rounds (led by QED), Provide was acquired by Fifth Third Bank in August 2021. 

Outside of my own projects, I occasionally invest in early stage fintech focused companies with TWIF Angels. 

Beyond fintech, I enjoy skiing, paragliding, free diving / spearfishing, motorcycling, building, cooking, exploring, and taking pictures of all of these adventures. I'm currently learning how to wing foil.
